Harman Carpets and Flooring

Domestic and Commercial Quality Flooring

Terms and Conditions of Sale

Soft Floor Fittings:

Carpets and Vinyl purchased from different batches cannot be guaranteed to be of the same shade pattern match.

“Shading” may occur on carpets; this is not a manufacturers fault and a claim cannot be legally made against our company.

If there is a Pole Mark in the carpet (a line across your room usually approximately 30cm in from the skirting), we are advised by the manufacturers to allow 4-6 weeks before raising a complaint.  Within this timescale it should fade. In the event it doesn’t, we will work with the manufacturer to resolve this, but will not be responsible to cover the cost of a replacement unless a decision is made to make a good-will gesture.

Hard Floor Fittings including Sub-Floor Preparation:

Due to the sub-floor preparation required, please clear out as much furniture as possible and make us aware of anything that may be left in the room prior to us arriving.

If you are having a Damp Proof Membrane or Smoothing Compound applied, be aware that this needs time to dry and may make some areas of your home inaccessible.

In order for us to complete your installation on time please ensure there is sufficient electricity, lighting and heating within your property, especially in the area(s) where your new flooring is being installed. This is especially important in the winter months where the drying time of the smoothing compound can significantly increase.

Please be mindful that we are raising the levels of your floor and therefore you may have doors or plinths that need planing. This is not included in our service, so you will need to make alternative arrangements for this.

All rooms must be cleared and clean prior to the fitter arriving on the premises.  All existing floor coverings must be removed prior to fitters arrival including underlay if new underlay has been purchased alongside your carpet. There will be an additional charge to uplift existing floor coverings at the fitters discretion and fitting may not be able to go ahead on your scheduled appointment if we are not made aware prior to your installation as the fitters will need sufficient time to carry out this service.

Please ensure that all floorboards/chipboard is secured correctly prior to our arrival – this applies to all flooring types.

In exceptional circumstances and with prior notification the fitters are prepared to move furniture etc, at the request of the customer and at the customers own risk.

Harman Carpets or any of it’s employees will not be liable for any of the following:

  • Accidental damage to any furniture, wall or ceiling, door frames, architrave, coving, skirting boards.
  • Accidental damage to any wallpaper or paint that has not had sufficient time to dry
  • Any pipes or wires not sunk to the legally required level under floors
  • Any alarm wires or electrical wires that are pointed out to the fitter prior to fitting

Upon booking, please notify the salesperson if fitters are requested to move furniture, as sufficient time will have to be allowed, and there may be a charge.

If you have appliances that need moving or disconnecting, please arrange for the correct trades to do this prior to our arrival as this is not part of our service, as our fitters are not qualified to do this. This includes, but isn’t limited to, taking the toilet in and out, reconnecting water supply to a fridge or washing machine. If it is left for our fitters to do, we cannot be held responsible for any accidental damage.

We offer a disposal and hoovering service at an additional cost, please arrange this with the salesperson.

Should you need to reschedule your fitting appointment, we ask that you give us 48 hours notice where possible.

A 50% deposit is required upon booking.  We will order your materials when the deposit has been received.  The remaining balance is due on or before the delivery of your materials or fitting date (whichever is sooner), unless specifically agreed otherwise. The fitting charge has been worked into your quotation and is included in your total balance, unless alternative arrangements have been made. Your balance payment can be made to our fitter via cash or cheque, card payment in store or over the phone, or bank transfer via the bank details provided on the bottom of your invoice.

Please check all of the details including product, colour and laying pattern are correct and as agreed.

By paying your deposit you are confirming that you have read and understood, therefore agreeing to our terms and conditions.

All goods remain the property of Harman Carpets until such time as payment is made in full.
